The eight winners of the 2023 Hart & Co. Kitchen and Laundry Design Awards have been announced, revealing WA’s best designers.
Hart & Co. Executive Chairman Rick Hart said the calibre of the entries this year was outstanding, with the awards program highlighting the incredible talent within WA.
The winners were announced over eight categories from a pool of 38 finalists, sharing in $19,000 in cash prizes.
The prestigious judging panel included; photographer, editor and founder of Havenist, Jody D’Arcy; national award-winning building designer, Shayne Le Roy; owner and director of Renew Renovations and Building, Dean Beament; and finally, Jane Ledger, creative director and owner of Jane Ledger Interiors.
David Hillam, principal at Hillam Architects, took out the top prize as the Designer of the Year, with his innovative kitchen design. The project also topped the awards as the winner of the Kitchen Design Excellence (over $60,000) category.
Jodi Balhorn Interior Design, was awarded the Kitchen Design Excellence (up to $60,000), while Lux Interiors, in collaboration with Prince Design, took out the Laundry Design Excellence category.
This year marked the introduction of two new categories at the awards - The Smeg Kitchen Design Excellence and Outdoor Kitchen Design Excellence - both won by the talented Carmen Hansberry Design.
With an overwhelming voting response for The People’s Choice category, Humphrey Homes was crowned winner and the ultimate favourite from the 38 finalists.
Additionally, Jordyn Lyn, from North Metro Tafe, was announced as the winner of Emerging Talent for Best Kitchen Design Concept, for her unique design concept.
Mr Hart said the Hart & Co. judges were highly impressed by the calibre of entries this year, resulting in the Kitchen Design Excellence categories increasing to eight finalists.
“We would like to extend our congratulations to the award winners. We’re proud that the awards program not only creates an opportunity for WA designers to showcase their best projects, but also creates employment opportunities for our young and emerging designers,” he said.
“We’re delighted with how the awards program brings the industry together, celebrating not only WA’s finest, but also the WA design industry as a whole. Next year will be even bigger and better,” Mr Hart stated.
The Hart & Co. Kitchen and Laundry Design Awards presented by Smeg stands as the pioneering independent industry awards in Western Australia. The annual event, held at Hart & Co.'s state-of-the-art showroom in Osborne Park, saw over 200 distinguished guests from the design and building industry in attendance.
